Serving Wine on Tap: The Benefits of Keg Wine
If you're running a bar or restaurant, serving wine on tap (in kegs) can be an excellent choice. Not only is it a more efficient way to serve wine, but it also offers many environmental and financial benefits. Here are just a few reasons why you might want to consider serving wine on tap.
Less Waste
When you serve wine from a keg, you don't have to worry about what to do with the empty bottles. This means that there's less packaging waste to deal with, and you'll have a smaller carbon footprint as a result. Additionally, kegs are much lighter than glass bottles, so you'll save on transportation costs as well.
One 20L keg stops / reduces 16kg of glass, 26 capsules, closures and labels, and 1.6kg of cardboard.
No more spoilage costs from oxidation and corked bottles, plus you get to reduce storage cost and electricity cost by reducing refrigeration space (with some taps you chill on order).
Faster Service
One of the most significant benefits of serving wine on tap is that it's faster and more efficient than serving wine by the bottle. With a keg system, you can serve wine in a matter of seconds, which means you'll be able to serve more customers and generate more revenue.
Longer Shelf Life
Another advantage of serving wine on tap is that it has a longer shelf life than wine served in bottles. Once a keg is tapped, the wine can last up to 6-8 weeks without spoiling, which means you'll have less waste and more time to sell the wine before it goes bad.
Space Saving
Wine kegs take up less space than a similar number of wine bottles. This means that you can store more wine in less space, freeing up room for other inventory or equipment.
Environmental Benefits
Using wine kegs can help you reduce your environmental impact. Kegs produce 70% less CO2 than bottles, and they're recyclable, so they create less waste. Additionally, because kegs are reusable, you won't have to dispose of them after each use, which can save you money and help the environment.
Draught system needed for wine in tap
Our draught wine, wine in kegs, come in 30L Key Kegs and 20L Key Kegs which connect to your existing, standard draught system and can run off any gas. They are basically like a giant bag in box which is great because the wine never comes into contact with anything (why it lasts for so long) and it means any standard gas can be used to dispense.
Another great thing is you can put your kegs somewhere else, if you need to. You can run a long line of a few meters if it helps to have them out of the way.
Servings of wine per keg
Our main and most popular keg size in the 30L which holds 240 glasses of wine. We also sell 20L kegs which hold 160 glasses of wine.
This is also good because you can easily offer people a taste, a small glass, large glass or carafes of wine.
